The Mission of Salt & Light
Recognizing that every Christian has unique gifts from God, the mission of Salt and Light is to discover, develop, and promote ministries that utilize these gifts while meeting the needs of others for God’s glory.
What We Do
Have you ever looked at the world and felt overwhelmed by the heartaches of life…the young mother scraping together every penny, the widow whose house is quickly falling into disrepair, your neighbor who fell and broke his hip and can’t drive to the doctor? It’s tempting to close your eyes to overcome the feelings of helplessness. It is our goal as Salt and Light to help in our desire and ability to be salt and light in the world as Jesus commanded.
Perhaps you, like so many others, see specific needs in our church and community and start to feel a passion to fill that gap. You want to do something for others, but the task of pulling together people to join along side of you seems hard, and the prospect of doing the work by yourself is not easy. This is where Salt and Light would like to help. You may be thinking, “How is Salt and Light going to do this?” Hopefully this webpage will give you a better understanding of how the Salt and Light ministry works.
Salt and Light is not a ministry that deals directly with specific needs. It is a ministry that will attempt to connect someone or some ministry to those needs. One of the goals of Salt and Light is to assist in making the local body of Christ more able to effectively reach the hurting around us. It is the desire of Salt and Light to know and understand some of the vast needs in our community, as well as the ministries that our Church body has available that address these needs. With this information, Salt and Light will work to connect the needs with the ministries, as quickly and efficiently as possible. So, if you see a specific need in our church or community, Salt and Light would like to know about it.
On the other hand if you are feeling a desire from the Holy Spirit to be more involved in His work, but don’t know where to start or how to be more effective with your ideas, Salt and Light would like to help. Again, you would start by coming to Salt and Light. With the knowledge of the existing needs and ministries, we will assist you. When we use our God-given gifts, with the direction of the Holy Spirit, the love of God is spread to those around us.
So basically, we work in two directions.
1. Connect the needs of the hurting to organized ministries. 2. Connect Christians to the needs of the hurting.
